What is the Free Portrait Session List?

 

Art sometimes finds himself with the time and desire to be behind the camera and an opening on the calendar. This may be a unique location or an idea of something I want to do.

 

To remedy this situation, I've put together a "Free Portrait Session List" which anyone interested in a free photo shoot and photos is welcome to subscribe to. If you decide to be put on the list I will confirm your contact info as confirmation of the request.

 

This is how the it works:

  • Anyone interested in shooting and may potentially be available at short notice should subscribe to this list. Whenever I have an unexpected availability and a desire to shoot, I will send people on the list an email which will include all the necessary details of the shoot. Anyone can get involved.

  • These shoots are free and some prints/images are included. I will choose the person I feel is most appropriate for the type of shoot I am interested in on that day. I will also consider the number of hours the person is available. For example, if I have 3 hours of availability, but you're only available for 2 I may go on down the list.

  • When I notify you of a shoot I will let you know such specifics as:
    • Time
    • Shoot Theme or Focus
    • Location

Q: Why do I offer free portrait sessions?

    A: I enjoy being behind the camera. I do it because I enjoy photography. I also provide free shoots because it's good publicity which provides great word-of-mouth advertising.

Q: When are free portrait sessions offered?

    A: The times that I offer free shoots are when I have a unique idea or my calendar has too much free time.

Q: Is there anything you can do to increase your chances of being selected?

    A: Oh yea, I take brides. (Grin) Sometimes it is valuable to hear how significant a free shoot would be to you. If you have a "real story" behind what a free shoot would mean to you, please tell it.

Q: What will prints cost me?

    A: For the skeptics out there I'm not trying to trick you. Every free shoot I provide contains either free prints or digital files. Free is free. I treat people the way I'd like to be treated.

Q: Will you do retouch on the prints/files I receive.

    A: If you desire to have more touched up digital negatives beyond the number provided with your shoot, then yes, that's something you'd need to pay for. But that's exactly the same as with my paid shoots.
