Some General Thoughts
If you would like to see some of our work please Contact Us. We have another website which has several galleries of our work.
Our style of boudoir photography simple with the focus being on you as you live. As opposed to elaborate sets we will use simple backgrounds with non-distracting patterns. We also recommend that you bring cloths that you would wear for a relaxed evening alone with your partner.
Our goal is for our portrait sessions to be about you and how the one you love, sees you.
During your planning session we will discuss everything from hobbies to yours or his interests. What we want to do for you is to create a look that is meaninful and appropriate for who you are.
Makeup Recommendations
I highly recommend using a Professional Makeup Artist. It is well worth the money for the truly fantastic job one can do for you. If you would like, we can arrange for a makeup artist for you.
If you do choose to use a makeup artist don't forget to allow extra time (30-45 minutes) to have it done! Double that if your having your hair done as well.
Here are some tips if you plan on doing your own makeup:
- Blush and eye makeup should also be applied slightly heavier than normal but neatly and precisely.
- Avoid frosted lipstick as it shows up very light in photos.
- Eye shadow should be a shade lighter so that the eyes are emphasized.
- Lipstick should be at least one shade deeper than usual. Especially if your hair or clothing is black.
- Use a powder-based makeup as oil-based makeup appears shiny. Another option is to use an application of powder to achieve a matte finish on the skin.
Clothing, Props and Ideas
Most people think that boudoir photos mean lingerie or nudity. In fact. studies have shown that men find a woman in something of theirs to be sexier than lingerer. Be creative! Think about it from his perspective as you make your decisions. After all, this is a present for him, so imagine what he would prefer as you go through the closet and talk about it with friends.
Quality Photos take some planning. Make sure that your clothing is in good condition. (No holes or tears, that aren't supposed to be there!) Tags should be removed from items where they might be visible.
Other tips that might help with your session
-
On the day of your shoot,
Make it a light meal, so that you feel comfortable during your shoot,
but don't forget to EAT! Having a piece of fruit shortly before the shoot
will help give you an energy boost, which you'll need as posing for each
shot does take some effort. Having a bottle of water on hand during the
shoot is a good idea too.
- If you feel nervous,
you are encouraged to have a friend at the shoot. Boyfriends or husbands
are usually not a good idea, We need your undivided attention. A girlfriend or sister is
a better choice. You may even plan to split a session with a friend.
- Try to plan your day
out in advance, so that time doesn't ruin your experience: Leave work an
hour early; If you have a hair/makeup appointment, book it far enough
ahead of your shoot to leave some free time; Leave a little early to get
to the appointment; etc. This will help you stay relaxed and stress free
for your shoot.
- Come to the appointment
in loose fitting clothes to reduce the amount of marks on your body. The
marks take some time to clear and may waste some of your shooting time.
A button up shirt will help keep your hair and makeup undisturbed too.
A clear deodorant is also advised to keep clothes free of marks (and also
allow you a better range of poses!)
- Your privacy is assured. We can even handle all printing in our studio so your images are never seen by anyone except that special person, you, and my office assistant.
