Why have an Engagement Portrait Session
An engagement portrait session provides the chance for us work together so that on the wedding day we are not strangers. The engagement session allows you to be photographed in a relaxed atmosphere and allows us to develop a more natural relationship. This relationship will be there on your wedding day thus helping us to better capture enthusiastic, storybook photos that everyone will enjoy. Creating these portraits on location, whether your choice or one of my personal favorites, makes the experience more intimate.
Why is communication so important? Just point and snap, right? Well, no, it’s not that easy. The connection needed to create great photos comes from a couple’s ability to naturally express themselves in front of the camera and a photographer’s artistic ability to capture that moment. This is where communication comes in play. During this time we can learn if you prefer a more artsy, candid, or traditional look to your photographs. We will combine your thoughts with our expertise and create finished portraits that are a combination of what you shared with us and our expertise.
What do we do with the Portraits?
This is where the fun really begins. If you chose to have a Destination Engagement session you will want to turn that session into your own love story. These can be combined with your favorite music into a slide show for your reception, a part of your wedding, or for pre-wedding bridal showers. You could even take this slide show and link to it from your online social networking pages.
Another incredible option for a Destination Engagement is to create a book of the day. Combine the portraits with poems or leave blank pages in the book so that special messages can be written in the book by family members.
If you do not have the full Destination Engagement session an engagement portrait can be framed in a large mount so that people can sign it and leave special messages at the wedding or reception.

How long does it take?
Depending on location choices and clothing changes, most photo shoots will take between 2 and 4 hours. This is enough time to give you a wide selection of locations and overall looks.
Another option is an all day session with even more locations and settings. With these sessions you can create a final album or slide show which has a wide variety of looks and options.
Do you also love the nightlife? If so, great, we enjoy working at night and find nighttime portraiture a lot of fun and very unique.
What should we wear?
Dress in clothing that represents who you are and the locations you choose. Clothing choices, and changes, that show who you are can create dramatic effect on the shoot. For example, if you have an outdoor shoot in the country, boots and casual clothes will work, or for a more formal outing downtown, wear more sophisticated attire such as a pantsuit or dress. Whatever you choose though, you should feel comfortable in it.
Along with clothing, location and setting variety is as important as anything else. Whether in the country wearing boots or the city in fine dining wear, the effect is to show an intimate portrait of you.
